BEAUTY from the inside out
From a very young age, I always knew about beauty. Beauty was everywhere from food, family, friends, architecture, clothes, ranches, baby dolls, horses, travel and so on. I’m certain that I learned about beauty early on as I have a mother that appreciates all things beautiful. And to be honest, I would say that was consistent with everyone in my family…from my dad, grandfathers, aunts, grandmothers, and most significantly my mother. They always praised me for my external beauty. However, as my grandmother always said, “Beauty is as beauty does.” As much as my external beauty was emphasized, beauty and kindness from the inside was equally focused on. As I age and evolve, that takes on new meaning. Raising children and working as a wardrobe consultant has also brought a new focus on beauty from the inside out.
Dare I say that I’m in the menopause stages? Yes it’s true! As women, it feels like every 5-8 years there is another shift that we must figure out and adapt. So here I am again, trying to figure out how things are shifting with my body. So many are external (there goes my beauty-wink wink!!!) and also internal. I’ve personally been tweaking my “health” routines over the last year and half. I wouldn’t say that I have it all dialed in, but I do feel like I’m making progress and seeing results. I wanted to share what I’ve been doing:
Morning Meditation with Daily Spiritual Reading
Protein First (before coffee)
Decreased Coffee (1 cup only)
Increased Protein (ideally 100 grams daily)
Increased weight lifting
Increased water intake (120 oz daily)
Hot Tea (2-3 cups daily)
No more botox
Regular Facials
Breathing Exercise (daily)
Brazilian Lymphatic Massage
Branch Basic Products (detergent, soap, cleaning supplies)
Stopped wearing perfume (but just found one without synthetics)
I share all of this because as a wardrobe consultant I focus so much on external “beauty”. However, if we don’t have our “internal house” in order with our health, then it’s not possible to SHINE externally and reach our fullest potential. It’s much easier said than done. As someone that feels like I have a good grasp on health and wellness, I must admit it’s been a journey in trying to figure out what my body needs at this stage of life. And I don’t even have any “major” health problems to make it complicated!
Your internal beauty is not only your physical health but your mental health too. It’s our mindset and especially our mindset around ourselves. The way we speak to ourselves matters way more than you think. And you might not even know that you are unkind to yourself. Or maybe you are nailing it with your internal dialogue. This is something I’m so hyper aware of ever since I’ve been working with women in their wardrobes. I just bring this up to point it out if you happen to be unaware of how you speak and perceive yourself. Just take inventory on yourself. Your mindset is part of your beauty (positively or negatively).
I personally feel called to serve others through their wardrobes/style to support them to go do what they are meant to do in the world. Your beauty from the inside out is part of this equation and should not be underestimated. It’s part of the full package when you are a beauty seeker like myself. So the next time you see someone who is full of life, shining BRIGHT, brings all the great energy and LOVE to a room…you will know that they carry beauty from the inside out! It’s all about knowing yourself inside and out. This takes work, but it’s worth it. YOU are worth it!
with LOVE and grace,
Elizabeth
