MAKING FAMILY PHOTOS EASY(ISH)

Family photos come around every year, and EVERY YEAR we all shake our heads… but we all also have to get them done, right?! You know it’s going to be a fight with your kids to get dressed, a pain to get everyone smiling, and then you look back at the pictures to see it was all worth the effort.

So here is my new take on Family Photos - We gotta make them EASIER!! Let’s simplify how we do this to make it more enjoyable for everyone involved. My goal this year was to start with the card templates I liked the most, then sit down with my family and actually get their input on location and a color scheme that matches. And from there, dive into shopping for outfits they all will enjoy wearing! We went with an orange and blue theme, with a bright card, and we have a SUPER FUN little idea for the photo itself (stay tuned for more on that)!!

You can see our families inspiration HERE, and a few tips for each member of the family:

MOM - For me the biggest hurdle of family photos is that I want nothing more than to be in a ball gown. Maybe not always a ball gown, but always a nice, dressed up look. And for the rest of my family that feels like torture. So my suggestion for this is WHY NOT! If you want to be in a fabulous outfit do it! Find yours first and anchor the rest of your family around that.

DAD - Give the guys what they want! Most men could care less what they are wearing, especially if they didn't have to pick it out. But they do like feeling like themselves in their clothes. Find a place to take the photos that are meaningful to them as much as it is you. Ask where they enjoy spending the most time with their family and get creative on how to use that space.

Also, it’s helpful to use them as the anchor point between your style and the kids! If you are dressed up and know your kids would prefer more casual items, let your husband be the inbetween and find a color pallet that you all can work within to keep it cohesive.

DAUGHTER(S) - Let her choose… Have your kids be a part of the conversation in the wardrobe and the theme. As my daughter gets older she now has LOTS of opinions.  I’m not sure where she gets it from. Wink wink!!!

SON(S) - Again, let him choose! Maybe not athleisure wear, but something less dressy than a full suit (trust me I’ve tried and it didn’t end with happy faces). Finding a happy medium in outfits for your kids, and letting them have fun makes for a better time all around!

HAPPY photos my friends!  Please let me know how they turn out!!

With LOVE and grace,

Elizabeth
